No Kid Should Go Hungry

Hunger is a chronic problem which has a big impact on how kids and families learn, grow, work and live. 1 in 4 kids in King County do not have reliable access to enough food. During the pandemic low-income families face increasing health inequities and hunger. Now, at a time when resources for many families who were already vulnerable are shrinking and uncertain, access to healthy food is even harder.

"I've been out of work for months, I don't know what I would do without this." - Parent

We have increased our hunger programs significantly since the beginning of the pandemic and we've pivoted out in-school and community meal programs to reach the families who need them. We're even using unlikely resources like vacant Y camp kitchens to meet the growing need. As a result, our networks continue to access healthy food.

The most critical part of these programs is working together with our community partnership, like United Way of King County who works closely with us and placed AmeriCorps members with us to help us expand our efforts across the county. One AmeriCorps Member said:

“As food insecurity continues to rise across our country, I am grateful to be one of the many people helping to connect families to food resources. I hope that by increasing these families’ access to food, we can make sure people are well fed and relieve stress surrounding meal time during an already incredibly stressful time for so many.” - AmeriCorps Member

But we also need your help to keep up with demand. Your gift to help kids in crisis is an investment in the full bellies of kids as they learn and grow.
