Every Kid Deserves to Learn and Grow

But now, more than ever, kids are falling behind if we do not act fast. The facts are staggering:

  • Nearly 300,000 students in King County are in school remotely and there is a growing gap for youth who do not have equitable access and resources, especially youth of lower income, youth with diverse abilities, youth of immigrant families, and youth living in communities with lack of digital access.
  • Families who cannot work from home are struggling with availability and costs of child care. Our state's average annual cost of center-based infant care is $13,742 which is greater than the average public college tuition $12,819, per year.
  • The high childcare costs and limited financial assistance are driving mothers out of the workforce.

Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, but many kids and families are getting stopped on their way.

Provide Essential Early Learning and Childcare

With your help, we're strengthening kids’ skills and social emotional learning during the pandemic through in-person educational support programs like Y Leap Academy, early learning programs, high school AP support, and kindergarten readiness support. You can provide safe child care, educational support, and social emotional learning for kids whose parents cannot work from home.

Provide Virtual Programming to Support Kids, Teens, and Families

Kids are without playmates and many outdoor and physical activities are not available. Parents and care givers are disconnected from other adults who could traditionally help support children. Loneliness is amplified and young people have less access to building critical social emotional skills than ever before.

You can provide skill building, educational support, and physical activities for kids and families at home through virtual programs. We're connect students and families to live and recorded virtual programs and activities like Afterschool in a Box and virtual teen programs, Youth and Government and Youth Earth Service Corps.
