The Y Knows Water
From kiddos who are just learning to swim to experienced aquaphiles, the Y has a water-based activity or swim program for you.
From kiddos who are just learning to swim to experienced aquaphiles, the Y has a water-based activity or swim program for you.
Since 1909, when the Y first began teaching group swimming lessons at the Detroit YMCA, we have been a leader in the world of aquatics. We continue that tradition by providing Safety Around Water instruction to millions of kids today. Learning to swim not only makes kids feel safer in and around water, but also helps to develop important problem-solving skills and bolster self-esteem.
Our aquatics centers offer everything from swim lessons and lifeguard training to water aerobics and pool parties. In addition to our 25-yard long lap pools, many of our locations also have a second activity pool with an average temperature of 86 degrees. Features include zero entry access, ADA chair lifts, water slides, splash features, spas, saunas, and steam rooms (varies by location). To enhance your workout, weight belts, barbells, and kickboards are also available at most locations. You get all this in a clean, comfortable, heated indoor space that members can enjoy year-round.
The Y operates two outdoor community pools during the summer at Cottage Lake in Woodinville and the Yost Pool in Edmonds. Learn More >

Your safety is our top priority. Our certified lifeguards are on duty at all times and the water is tested every two hours to maintain the highest quality standards. We pride ourselves on our pristine and accessible aquatics environments so that everyone can appreciate the therapeutic benefits of water, both mental and physical.
