Every item in our store is made using a method called print-on-demand, which means your gear is created just for you, only after you order it. This helps reduce waste, lowers our environmental impact, and lets us offer a wider variety of sizes and styles without overstock. The trade-off? This method does take a bit longer for delivery, and returns are only accepted for fulfillment issues like damage or misprints. So, thank you for your support and impactful purchase!

What does print-on-demand mean, and why does the Shop with Purpose store use it?
Print-on-demand is a production process that means every item is made only after you place an order. Products are not pre-printed, so no inventory is necessary. Instead, your gear is produced by a third-party vendor once your purchase is submitted.
We chose this method very intentionally for several reasons:
It’s better for the environment.
- We avoid waste by not overproducing.
- Fewer unused items mean less landfill waste.
It gives you more choices.
- We can offer more sizes, styles, and colors without having to predict demand in advance.
- It allows us to carry designs for everyone from toddlers to adults without the risk of overstock.
It’s smarter financially.
- No inventory means no upfront investment in bulk printing or storage.
- It frees up our resources to focus on programs that directly serve our communities.
And it’s the only reason we can offer this store.
Without the flexibility of print-on-demand, we wouldn’t be able to provide this gear. It enables us to offer branded spirit wear that builds community, represents your Y pride, and supports our mission without pulling funding or staffing away from critical services.
Why this is better for the environment?
Print-on-demand means fewer raw materials are used, less energy is consumed, and less waste is produced during the production process. Emissions are also reduced by eliminating unnecessary warehousing and shipping steps. Instead of creating bulk inventory that may never be purchased, this method only prints what’s needed when it's actually needed.
It’s a more sustainable way to bring Y gear into the world, thoughtfully and intentionally, just like our mission.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Because the printed product does not exist until you place your order, the time to fulfill your order includes the production of your order, not just the shipping, so it takes a little longer than what you may be accustomed to. Once your order ships, you’ll receive a tracking number via email. We appreciate your patience and for making a more sustainable choice.

Each item is custom-printed after the order is placed. Most orders are fulfilled within this window, but slight delays may occur during peak seasons (e.g., holidays or summer).
Shipping Time: 3-7 business days (standard U.S. shipping)
Shipping speed depends on your location and the carrier selected. Faster shipping options may be available at checkout for an additional fee.
What if I ordered the wrong size/changed my mind or the item is damaged/misprinted?
We are unable to accept returns or exchanges due to buyer’s remorse, including ordering the wrong size, color, or style. Please review all product information closely before placing your order.
Returns or problems caused by an error on the part of our fulfillment vendor, such as a misprint, defect, or damage during shipping, will be accepted within 30 days from the date of delivery. Please contact info@seattleymca.org for assistance. Be sure to include photos of the issue.
Can I return an item to my local Y?
No, your local YMCA location is not able to process returns or exchanges. However, our support team can help facilitate a return for you, as long as the return meets the criteria provided in the "What if I ordered the wrong size/changed my mind or the item is damaged/misprinted?" What if my order gets lost in the mail?
If your package has not arrived within 15 days of the expected delivery date, please contact info@seattleymca.org for assistance. Claims must be submitted within 30 days of the delivery window.
Why can I not buy these products at our local Y?
Stocking, storing, and managing apparel inventory would require upfront costs, space, and staff that would otherwise go toward programs and services. By using a print-on-demand model, we can stay focused on our mission while still offering the community a way to show their Y pride.
