It's Time for your Next Adventure

The Leader in Training (LIT) Program is a wilderness-based program focused on mentoring and leadership. This opportunity is offered to participants who have completed at least one backpacking trip with BOLD & GOLD or comparable experience and are currently juniors and seniors in high school.

LITs go on a one-week backcountry Training Trip with a cohort of their peers in which the curriculum focuses on leadership development, group management, and wilderness technical skills. Then, each LIT gets to assist in leading a one-week middle school trip, called the Mentor Trip, with two experienced BOLD & GOLD instructors later in the summer.

You will receive 150 service hours for your work on the Mentor Trip. This is a unique leadership experience that stands out on a resume or college application. Not only will you get to experience the natural beauty of Washington State, but as a LIT, you will also develop leadership, group management, and outdoor skills that support your growth as a leader and mentor.
