Be a part of a historic Y event celebrating 175 years of advancing social progress worldwide.
The Global Teens Program is designed to develop international understanding, leadership skills, and cultural competency as well as provide service learning opportunities for youth ages 14-17. It promotes civic engagement and a deeper understanding of social issues on a local and global scale to prepare young people to lead in the 21st century. In 2019, the YMCA of Greater Seattle will participate in the YMCA175, London from August 3rd-8th 2019.
In the summer of 2020, the YMCA of Greater Seattle will offer two trips, Shainghai, China and Kobe, Japan.
Applications for YMCA Global Teens trip to China and Japan 2020 are OPEN! On selection, participants will attend pre-trip gatherings with their travel group which will focus on team-building, leadership development, and cultural competency trainings in preparation for their trip. The application and selection process consists of the following:

Once your application has been reviewed, you may be invited for an in-person interview. In-person interviews will take place at the following YMCA locations:
Chosen Global Teens participants will attend pre-trip gatherings focused on team-building, leadership development and cultural competency trainings in preparation for their trip. On the trip, each student will experience Japanese language, life and culture and connect with local youth through their three day trip to YMCA Camp Yoshima, visiting historic Kyoto, touring Kobe and a home-stay with a Japanese family from the Kobe YMCA.
