Throughout the years the Seattle Y has invested in youth, young adults and communities' members' growth and journey in becoming global leaders by harnessing the power of the Global YMCA.
We believe that as our local community becomes more diverse, it is imperative for young people to become more culturally and globally competent. The Y supports global competence by helping young people investigate the world, recognize different perspectives, communicate ideas and collaborate with diverse audiences.
The Global Teens Program is designed to develop international understanding, leadership skills, and cultural competency as well as provide service learning opportunities for youth ages 14-17. It promotes civic engagement and a deeper understanding of social issues on a local and global scale to prepare young people to lead in the 21st century.
