Every child deserves a safe, stable, and caring home. Today, thousands of children in our community are waiting for someone willing to step forward. If you’ve ever wondered what foster parenting involves—or how you can make a meaningful difference—now is an ideal time to learn more.
The YMCA of Greater Seattle licenses and supports foster parents and relative caregivers who provide stable, temporary homes for youth in need. To help you explore whether fostering may be the right fit for you or your family, we’re offering a series of free virtual and in-person information sessions.
Registration is free and required to receive the Microsoft Teams link or in-person event details. Use the Eventbrite links above to reserve your spot.

What to Expect
In-person sessions feature a panel discussion with a current foster parent and a Y case manager, offering an honest look at the realities, successes, and challenges of fostering. After the conversation, attendees are invited to join a Q&A and then connect one-on-one with Y licensors for more personalized questions. Refreshments will be provided, and Y members can use Kids Zone for convenient on-site childcare.
Virtual Information Sessions
Virtual sessions will be held via Microsoft Teams from 6:30–8:00 PM for the following 2026 dates:
January 20, February 17, March 17, April 14, May 12, June 9, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 27, November 24, December 22

What to Expect
Y staff will lead an informative presentation that explains how the child welfare system works, outlines the roles and responsibilities of foster parents, and addresses common questions prospective caregivers often have. Each virtual session concludes with an open Q&A.
