NATIONAL PROGRAMS

Students who participate in the Youth Legislature or Mock Trial program are eligible to apply for one of our national Youth & Government events and competitions. Students from around the US and beyond come together to learn, teach, lead and grow as individuals. Students build lasting friendships and gain a deeper understanding of the differences that make us all unique.

Governors Conference
Washington D.C. (June)

For over four decades, the YMCA Youth Governors from around the country gather in the nation's capitol to learn about servant leadership and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Each year, delegates of the Youth Legislature elect Washington's Youth Governor to participate in this conference.

National Advocacy Days
Washington D.C. (February)

Two students from Washington State are nominated each year to participate in the Youth Track during YMCA National Advocacy Days. Students travel to the other Washington to learn effective advocacy skills, discuss YMCA policy issues, and meet with elected officials.

YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs (CONA)
Black Mountain, NC (June)

Delegates to CONA draft proposals on national and international importance and discuss their ideas with nearly 1,000 of their peers from around the country. The conference takes place at the historic Blue Ridge Center where teens have opportunities to hike, swim, and catch the Blue Ridge Spirit.
