Essential Services

Amidst all this, one thing is certain: The Y will be here continuing to support and empower the families, teens and young adults we serve. During a crisis, the woes of the world are amplified. With economic and general uncertainty, issues like homelessness, mental or behavioral health and foster care are amplified even more.

The Y’s work is more important than ever, which is why we’re pivoting our services to adapt to the needs of today with the following services:

Behavioral Health Services for Young Adults

With our offices and clinics temporarily closed per the state’s mandate, we have rapidly transitioned to remote connections such as phone, video chat, video messages, and text to continue supporting young adults and their families. This includes 24/7 crisis support, outpatient mental health, substance use counseling, and violence prevention.

For more information, please call 206-382-5340.

For immediate help, call the 24-Hour Crisis Line at 206-461-3222 at any time of day, or visit Crisis Connections, a YMCA resource partner.

Housing and Homeless Services for Young Adults

We are the largest provider of housing for homeless young adults in King County, and offer a variety of programs including rapid rehousing, transitional housing, and permanent housing—especially for those who are exiting foster care and/or who are experiencing homelessness.

Please call 206-749-7550 for more information.

Recently we expanded the hours for our Arcadia shelter for young adults (18-24) to serve our guests 24/7, giving them a safe space to stay each day.

Meals and snacks are provided. Youth have internet and public computer access, as well as the use of shower and laundry facilities. Case managers are on-site to connect youth with additional services.

Family Services and Foster Care

We support families in need of services addressing child welfare, family stabilization, as well as mitigating the risk of, or supporting the need for, other needs like foster care.

For information about foster care services, please call 206-382-5340.

For questions about foster parenting, email fosterparenting@seattleymca.org.

We also provide those aging out of the foster care system with the needed support and resources to transition to independent living. Please call 206-749-7550 for more information about services for alumni of foster care.

Young Adult Services

We offer a continuum of services for 14-25 aged youths and young adults. This includes facilitating education, job training, justice system diversion, and leadership development.

Our offices are temporarily closed per the state’s mandate, and the schools we partner with are also closed; however, we have rapidly transitioned to remote connections such as phone, video chat, video messages, and text to continue supporting clients.

For more information, please call 206-749-7550.
