124 Campers, Countless Adventures, One Unforgettable Start

After years of quiet trails and closed gates, Camp Kilworth is alive again with laughter, discovery, and the rhythm of summer camp. With the YMCA of Greater Seattle now at the helm, the first week marked more than just the start of a season — it marked a new chapter in Kilworth’s legacy, written by the donors, volunteers, staff, and campers who helped bring it back to life.

Read a recap of the week one activities and events from Em Fallin, Camp Kilworth Supervisor, and her team — Ethan Cooke, Eddy Kone, Jonathan Aycheh, Sveva Willer, and Tess Newton.

Two bald eagles

Summer is finally here, and Camp Kilworth has welcomed its first 124 campers! Campers started with a great hike around all of Camp Kilworth, ending at the amphitheater with incredible views of the Sound and the Olympics.

This week, we even got to see TWO bald eagles resting on the beach. From here, we kicked off our daily activities with campers playing capture the flag and Gaga ball, making pony bead keychains, and watercolor painting their surroundings while using binoculars to spot neat wildlife!

Campers put their identification skills to the test with Camp Kilworth Bingo, which had them finding anything from Salmon berries and ferns to hidden rubber ducks and our amazing groundskeeper, Kevin. Overall, this has been an incredible kick-off to summer at Camp Kilworth, and in the words of one of the campers, this camp is “the best field trip ever!"
