When it comes to celebrating and commemorating Juneteenth, the Greater Seattle Area does not disappoint! We've put together a list of local events and celebrations that are all family-friendly and mostly free.

Burien

Feel the Joy! A Juneteenth Celebration (Yoga)

June 19, 2023, from 6:00 pm-7:15 pm
Aya Yoga Oasis, Burien, WA

Guided breathwork, a gentle asana flow, and guided meditation to help tap into the joy of the occasion. Open to all levels, ages 12+, with all proceeds going to Nurturing Roots. This community farming program creates community through gardening and shares the truth about systematic oppression, emphasizing food and environmental justice. Suggested donation of $25 per person.

Juneteenth Family Reunion 2023

June 11, 2023, from 12:00-4:30 pm
Smilow Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club

Join the community in celebration of Juneteenth with music, food, and vendors featuring local Black businesses. This event also includes a free vaccination and dental clinic. This family-friendly celebration will include a kids' play zone and a powerful and enlightening educational experience through Mr. Delbert Richardson’s Traveling African American Museum.

Revival Market

June 18, 2023, from 12:00-5:00 pm
Midtown Plaza, Seattle, WA

Look for our Y table at this annual market with other local vendors. DJ Riz from KEXP will also be attending to broadcast live from Midtown Plaza. The Juneteenth Celebration Event celebrates the rich history of Seattle's African and Black diaspora communities. It creates a space to discover Black retailers, food vendors, and resources specializing in uplifting Black communities.

Juneteenth – Songs of Black Folk, Music of Resistance & Hope

Freedom Flows: A Juneteenth Event Honoring 50 Years of Hip-Hop

Celebrate the last half-century of hip-hop with a premiere of the fresh pop-up exhibit My Mic Sounds Nice: Hip-Hop Feminism in History, an unveiling of MoPOP's Online Hip-Hop Collection Vault, panels with hip-hop greats (including MC Sha-Rock and Jarobi from A Tribe Called Quest!), and a freestyle rap battle.

Shoreline's Inaugural city-sponsored Juneteenth Celebration with performances by the Northside Step Team and the P. I - E. Pruitt and Maureese Itson Band (hosted by ShoreLake Arts), Black small business and food vendors, a guided Juneteenth mural stroll, and much more at this free, fun community celebration.

Juneteenth also falls on the 110th birthday of WA State Parks, which means freedom to explore the outdoors in all of them, for free! Saint Edward and Bridle Trails are the closest to Seattle.
