Security Statement

We understand how important security is to our members and participants. The YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS) and its vendors employ state-of-the-art security systems to safeguard our customers' data and communications. The following Security Statement describes the technologies we use and provides additional details about how we handle sensitive data like credit card information. We want you to be able to reserve YGS programs with complete confidence. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable reserving with us online, we invite you to stop by your local YGS branch.

The Transmission of Sensitive Data

YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS) employs Secure Socket Layer technology (SSL) on those pages that involve sensitive information such as credit card numbers. SSL is supported by the vast majority of internet web browsers available today, and is the most commonly employed method of secure, encrypted communications on the internet.

All communications are encrypted using 128-bit VeriSign™ SSL Certification and 1024-bit RSA public keys. VeriSign™ is an independent third party that authenticates the identity of others on the internet. By registering with VeriSign™, we provide you with a method of authenticating that the entity you are dealing with over the internet is YGS.

What Happens to My Information After the YMCA Receives it?

SSL protects the information you send us, VeriSign™ certificate technology ensures that YGS is the actual recipient of your information. Once we receive it, we ensure your information is stored and managed securely. All data collected is protected by multiple levels of data and structural security including separate servers for web and data, multiple firewalls and encrypted passwords.

For Donors

Safeguarding our donors’ data is of paramount importance. All of the security protocols listed above are also applied to donor information, and to further ensure that data donors entrust to us remains secure, only authorized YGS staff members with a recognized business need are permitted access to it.

YGS will never sell our donors’ data to a third party or share it with another non-profit organization.
