Forever in Service. For Social Impact.

Counseling Services

Today’s crises, the pandemic, and social inequalities are on a path to create long lasting generational challenges. The Y is here to help provide needed resources and help our region grow healthier and thrive through physical, emotional, and mental, whole person health.

From crisis support to long term mental health support for depression, anxiety, suicidality, and trauma, the Y is here with expert care. We have a chance right now to prevent further community distress by investing in critical counseling service resources for kids, teens, and adults.

Everyday, we’re innovating to find new ways to reach more people who need us when services are harder to provide.

Counseling Services

"Providing compassionate, non-judgmental care gives my clients safe space to process trauma, hone communication skills and identify, process, and accept emotions. All with the goal of increasing connection with family, friends, and community."

~ Christy, Family Therapist, Social Impact Center (she/hers)

We need your help to ensure mental health resources are available to all to disrupt these troubling trends.

  • Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people age 10-25.
  • Since the pandemic, young people are reporting increased anxiety and depression.

The truth is counseling services are part of vital basic health care. Investing in the mental wellness of people in our region is an investment in their physical and economic health for years to come.

Hunger Initiatives

Childhood hunger is unacceptable and yet, about one in six kids in King County are not sure where their next meal will come from.

  • Food needs were the second most common reason for King County residents to call seeking assistance with social services in Spring 2020.
  • In King County, 30 percent of households struggle with food security and 57 percent of those households have children in them.
Hunger Programs

"I am very happy, very grateful for the meals, for my family. My children, they are all the time asking for food and sometimes we run out, you know. I say, "guys I am sorry!" Now the foods are helping them. I am happy."

~ Parent

Through a coalition of mission-minded partners, the Y is working to end hunger in King County. We’re finding ways to end practices that widen the gap of food access, build a more just food system, and make sure that all kids in King County know where their next meal is coming from.

Through innovative programs, quick pivots, and dedicated staff on the ground, we served 467,000 meals in 2020, a 50 percent increase from 2019.

We need your help to serve even more kids in 2021. Please make a gift today.
