Since its founding in Seattle, BOLD & GOLD is inspiring leadership in adolescents through immersive outdoor adventure and has expanded to 23 Ys nationwide.

Kids are spending more time in front of screens resulting in a rise in anxiety, obesity, and depression and they’re increasingly disconnected from nature. Studies show that young people need time in nature for better health and happiness. BOLD & GOLD (Boys & Girls Outdoor Leadership Development) takes adolescents on adventures in wilderness.

Ensure groups reflect the racial and socio-economic diversity of the community, giving youth a chance to learn from peers they may not otherwise meet.
Help youth persevere through physical and emotional challenges and develop courage and confidence through healthy risk-taking.
