We are continuing to strengthen our Community Response to growing needs during this difficult time. The Y recently received this correspondence from a community member who is without shelter or access to shower facilities:
“When ... can we get in to wash the germs from our bodies? We literally have nowhere to shower. It is becoming a really big issue, because they are not even cleaning any of the parks rest rooms. The city has been told to stay out of them. So I am still using what is available, nothing much. The Sani-Can outside the day center. That is the only bathroom. After Hours. PERIOD. And during the day. The laundry mat and any of the parks restrooms, if you must! ....Thank you so much. We greatly appreciate all that you, and the y, do for us! Thx.
In response, The Snoqualmie Valley YMCA will be offering free showers to the community during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The service will be provided every Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Community members will have access to our private shower bathroom and will be provided with a towel and toiletries as well as grab and go snacks. We will ensure all cleaning and health & safety precautions are followed.
We are pleased to be able to provide this to our community as we know during this time there is a lack of available bathrooms, showers, and other services for this vulnerable population.
The community has reached out, thanks to the Snoqualmie team for stepping up and rising to the need.
