Discover the magic of the environment around you while making a fun craft project! Remember that we only want to use nature that’s on the ground and not take things from living plants. There is one exception! If you are certain a plant is an invasive species (see our post all about invasive species) it’s OK, and actually helpful, to pull it and use it in your project.

Collection of nature items including leaves, twigs, pinecones and sticks on blue background

1. Find a stick about the size of a magic wand.

2. Collect other cool looking things to add to your wand such as pinecone scales, fir needles, leaves, ivy, flowers, or small rocks.

3. Start building your wand! Use normal glue or hot glue (if available, and under proper supervision) to attach the natural decorations to your wand.

4. Have fun! Practice magic nature spells with your new wand, like making the sun come out, asking the birds to sing a song, making the leaves rustle, or more!

If a traditional-looking wand is more your style, use glitter, ribbon, paint, sequins, feathers, or other craft materials to create your perfect wand!
