Meat and Veggie Kabobs on tinfoil over the campfire

Campfires are not just for camping out! You can build one in your yard, local parks, or beaches (just make sure they are allowed before starting).  Campfire cooking has come a long way and it does not have to be just hot dogs, beans and s'mores.  You can make a gourmet meal over the flames!

Grab a roll of tin foil, your ingredients, and you are all set. Tin foil is a great vehicle for cooking. It is durable enough to withstand the heat of the fire and requires no clean up as you can just throw it away when you are done.

  • Choose your protein and/or veggies

  • Add seasoning

  • Add some liquid (oil, butter, broth, etc.)

  • Close and seal the tin foil with ingredients inside

  • Cook over the fire turning every few minutes until the protein and veggies are cooked through. (Be careful when opening up the packet as the inside is hot and steam will escape as you open the packet).
