Q: Describe a time post-graduation where skills and abilities you learned from Youth & Government were needed and used?

A: I use my Youth & Government skills constantly in work. I cover the Washington State legislator for KHQ-TV NBC and I’m the only one who can tell the difference between a House Bill and a Senate Bill. The Youth & Government experience afforded me the opportunity to work with so many people and learn not only the paper trail of government but the human side as well.

Q: How has your Youth & Government experience shaped you for life following high school?

A: Youth & Government taught me how to listen to multiple sides of an argument, which is something I think everybody needs help in. It helped open my mind to different perspectives which has put me in a good position to cover government. As someone who had the opportunity of writing a bill and watching it go through the system, it helps me understand how much passion goes into this- on both sides of the aisle.
