March is National Nutrition Month

Now is a great a time to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating habits. This year's theme is Go Further with Food.

Choosing to eat nutritiously isn't about fad diets or quick fixes for weight loss or gain. Nutrition is about focusing on foods that fuel your body while treating it with love and respect. Small adjustments to your diet can make big differences throughout your life.

National Nutrition Month isn't a new idea. The first National Nutrition Week campaign was launched in 1973, with a presidential proclamation. The Y celebrates National Nutrition Month as part of our focus on healthy living. This month we're hosting events and sharing tips on our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Tip #1

The easiest way to Go Further with Food is to pay attention to what the labels say is in your food. Foods that come in packages tend to have hidden ingredients, so it’s helpful to learn how to read the label.
