The YMCA Adventure Guides program has a long and rich history at our University Family YMCA. Over the past 50+ years thousands of dads and their children have created lasting memories and strong bonds through this transformative parent-child program.

Now to help re-connect past participants to this great program legacy and engage in the new Y facility project planning, Tim Thiers, past Y-Guides leader and current branch board member, has helped launched a series of Community Input Sessions for this group and other interested community members.

As Tim shared in a recent session, “We have a 100-year opportunity in bringing a new Y to the north end – a chance to create a place that will be the heart of our North Seattle community for the next century or more.”

To ensure the project meets community needs, the University Y will gather an unprecedented level of community input on high-priority programs—from water fun and safety for all to senior activities, health and wellness to youth sports, a place for the University District’s homeless kids, and so much more.

“Northeast Seattle is changing so fast,” says Tim. “Now is our time to have a lasting impact for our kids, our grandchildren, and beyond.”
