Troops receiving candy from YMCA's candy buy back program

Halloween after Halloween, the candy piles up. Munching on some of yours and your family’s favorite candies is all good fun, but what do you do with the rest of it? Keeping it around the house is just asking for it to be eaten. So come to the Candy Buy Back at participating YMCA branches between November 1 and 7

Here’s why:

  1. Get the candy out of the house! We don’t need you to tell you that eating tons of sugary candy isn’t healthy, especially for kids. In addition to what sugar does to the body, it is also the leading cause of tooth decay and cavities.

  1. Kids get prizes! When kids bring their candy into the branch for the Candy Buy Back, front desk staff have non-candy prizes in exchange.

  1. All the candy from the Candy Buy Back is sent directly to troops stationed overseas through USO Northwest.  Participating branches include: Auburn Valley YMCABellevue Family YMCACoal Creek Family YMCA in Newcastle, Downtown Seattle YMCAKent YMCA, Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA in the Seattle Central District, Northshore YMCA in Bothell, Sammamish Community YMCASnoqualmie Valley YMCAUniversity Family YMCA, West Seattle & Fauntleroy YMCA

It's a win times three! Limit the amount of candy around the house, let your kids choose a fun prize and send the candy to our troops, who could certainly use a sugary treat and a friendly reminder of home.
