As Ileana approached the end of her 8th grade year, she was facing another year of middle school if her grades didn’t improve. Over the summer, she took part in the YU Learn program, funded by donors like you. She was apprehensive about spending her summer in a learning program, but excited to be with her friends and improve her grades to continue on to high school.

Through the program, Ileana learned she could do so much more than she thought she was capable of. Her confidence grew and she was more open to trying new things. Most importantly, she found a group of supportive, caring mentors to encourage her and cheer her on.

“I learned I had people waiting for me at the end to support me,” Ileana says. “I feel so fortunate and lucky to have had the opportunity to be part of YU Learn.”
