June’s theme in Kids Zone is Camping Out! Camping is a great way to get outside and enjoy nature, but what if you can't make it to the great outdoors? Don't worry. You can still enjoy the camping experience at home with your family. Here are three activities about camping to do at home as a family.

Set up a Tent Indoors

Who says you have to go outside to camp in a tent? You can create a fun camping experience right in your own living room or backyard. All you need is a tent, blankets, pillows, and some camping gear to make it feel authentic. Set up the tent, lay down some blankets and pillows, and get cozy. You can even have a campfire simulation with a fake fire, marshmallows, and s’mores.

Make a DIY Camping Lantern

Camping lanterns are a must-have for any camping trip. Why not make your own DIY camping lantern at home? You only need an empty jar, some glow-in-the-dark paint, and a paintbrush. Simply paint the inside of the jar with the glow-in-the-dark paint and let it dry. Once dry, you can turn off the lights and watch your homemade camping lantern light up the room.

Create a Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are a fun way to explore the outdoors and discover new things. But who says you can’t have a scavenger hunt at home? Create a list of items to find around the house or backyard, such as a rock, a flower, a feather, or a bug. Give each family member a list and a bag to collect their treasures and set a time limit for everyone to complete the hunt. The winner can pick the bedtime book for the night or any other fun prizes!

Camping is a fun and exciting way to spend time with your family and connect with nature. But even if you can't go to the great outdoors, you can still have a camping experience at home with these three activities. Set up a tent indoors, make a DIY camping lantern, and create a scavenger hunt for your family to enjoy. So grab your gear, get cozy, and have fun camping at home!
