Coal Creek Family Y's Backpack Meal Program

At Maplewood Heights Elementary in the Renton Highlands, there are a number of children who received need-based food while at school, but there were no services available to those students on the weekends. In 2016, Jason Epstein decided that children in our community should not go hungry. Jason started the Backpack Meal program.
Jason’s law firm, Premier Law Group (plg-pllc.com), would make weekly trips to purchase food that required little or no preparation and pack the food into individual backpacks. They prepared the backpacks then delivered them to Maplewood Heights Elementary where the school counselor distributed them to those that needed the extra help.
