2006 Volunteers of the Year
Both locally and across the globe, the YMCA was founded by volunteers. In 2006, more than 9,200 people of all ages and interests contributed more than 161,800 hours to help the YMCA of Greater Seattle accomplish its mission. Their leadership, vision and passion enabled the YMCA to positively impact the lives of more than 190,400 people last year. Lake Heights Family YMCA - John Chang
John has been a teen program leader for the last few years. He participates in the Teen Program Steering Committee, and this year he is co-leader for the Partners With Youth teen division. Hear more from John.

Bellevue Family YMCA - MaryAnn Hurrell
MaryAnn joined the Bellevue Family YMCA in 2002 following a suggestion from her Group Health physician. MaryAnn instantly felt welcomed at the YMCA, not only through her classes, but also through the friendships, fun and family she found in the Senior Coffee Club. Now as the Chair of the Bellevue Family YMCA's Senior Connecting Team, MaryAnn has focused on creating a comfortable and welcome environment for all senior members by developing strategies for members to improve their connections to one another and to enhance their physical and psychosocial well-being. Metrocenter YMCA - Nathan & Cheryl Sherman
Nathan and Cheryl called Metrocenter YMCA in early 2005 ready to make a difference. Since that first call, they have participated in a Metrocenter Career and Education Fair, developed Money Management curriculum, taught three of the six segments of the Money Management program and served on that program's steering committee. On top of all of this, Cheryl has made a lasting connection with one of the participants and is now her career mentor. Hear more from Nathan and Cheryl.

Robin has proven to be a remarkable fundraising volunteer for the Northshore YMCA. Fro the past three Partners With Youth campaigns, Robin has served in key leadership roles, bringing a high level of experience and knowledge. Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA - David Sarju
Dave has been on the Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA Board of Managers for 18 months. He joined just prior to the 2006 Partners With Youth Campaign and quickly became a stand-out fundraiser and committed, action-oriented Board member.
