Give to the Y, Unlock Potential
Lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. Your gift makes an immediate, lasting impact in your community. People striving to overcome difficult circumstances are able to become healthier and more confident as they connect with YMCA programs and services.
Your donation stays in our community, with 95 cents of every dollar going directly to programs and financial assistance.
Give today and make a positive change in your community! Join the Y in nurturing youth, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility.
Addressing Critical Local Needs
Your gift enables the Y to help people affected by some of our community’s most serious issues:
- More than 13% of Seattle residents are living below the federal poverty level ($22,050 annually for a family of four).
- In 2009, more than half of King County adults were either overweight or obese, and almost a quarter of young people were overweight or at risk of becoming so.
- About one-third of Seattle students don’t graduate high school with their peers.
With your support, the Y can continue to address these and other pressing issues – and expand our work to reach more people.
Turn Your Gift Into…
Their Potential
Because we believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, the Y is for Youth Development. Through the Y, thousands of local youth are learning the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement – right now and in the future.
Their Health
Through our 13 branches and two overnight camps, the Y promotes Healthy Living. We’re passionate about providing guidance and resources to help people maximize their health and prevent chronic disease. The Y brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters community connections through fitness, sports and shared interests.
Their Future
The Y has been listening and responding to the needs of our neighbors for more than 130 years. Social Responsibility is central to who we are. Through education and training in neighborhoods, connecting diverse demographic populations and building healthier communities with partners, the Y fosters care and respect for all.

My family became program members at the Y when we signed our kids up for child care. After hearing about all the wonderful programs that the Y offers, we joined in other activities. My kids’ favorite is summer camp. Camp gives my kids the option of doing a variety of things that are fun yet offers a sense of social and educational growth – so different from staying home playing video games all day! As a parent, I love to hear them brag to their friends about the cool things they have done at camp.
Unfortunately, last year my husband lost his job. We had never been a family who needed financial assistance until that happened. When I called to cancel care for my children, the Y gave me information about their financial assistance program and told me how they could help. Our kids would not have to miss out on all the activities they enjoy because of a financial hardship after all! Instead of pulling our children out of care, we spent the summer hearing our kids’ excitement over stories of what they had done each day. They developed friendships outside of school, and have grown into better, well rounded children. Although we no longer need financial support, it was a blessing to know that help from the Y was there when we needed it the most.

The Y is not just another organization. It is a second family for me and my kids. As a single mother afflicted with multiple sclerosis, with two children under age six and tight finances, the Y has come through and helped my family in so many ways. Through a scholarship program, my 5 year old son was able to go to summer camp last year. He learned the value of respect and had a really fun time. My two year old currently attends the Y’s Child Development Center. He loves his teachers and his newfound friends. This would not have been possible without financial assistance. The Y has helped me as well. I am able to take advantage of their knowledgeable trainers and state of the art equipment to work on strengthening my body, while my children play and have fun in the Kids Corner and Adventure Zone. This is so important because my MS causes problems with walking and lifting. I am grateful to the Y for making a difference in my family’s life. Because of these scholarships, I can send my children to staff that I trust; my family has made many memories at the Y and look forward to making more for years to come.

I came to the Y desperately seeking a place for my kids to go after school. I knew that there was no way I could afford the fees for childcare. Through the financial assistance program at the Y, my kids now have the potential to make friends and have fun. Without help from the Y, my kids would have to go home by themselves. I now know that every day after school, my children are safe and with staff who truly care about their well being. They provide homework assistance, which makes my life easier, and hands on activities that develop their creativity. The financial assistance that the Y is able to offer my family has allowed me to work more hours and provide a better quality of life for us all. We truly enjoy being a part of the Y.

I was referred to the Exercise and Thrive program offered at the Y by my doctor after receiving treatment for Stage One breast cancer. I was glad to be part of a group of others who, like myself, had cancer. I have found everyone at the Y to be very friendly and helpful. Because of this program, I am now exercising on a regular basis which is essential for me to stay healthy. I have more energy, strength and flexibility than before. I’ve noticed it’s easier to do things like vacuuming and carrying groceries, for example. I have appreciated the consistency and connection with my Thrive and Survive group, as well as the patience and sensitivity of my Y trainer and coach. Recently, my last check up showed that the cancer has not returned. I am very grateful for the Y and how this experience has supported my health and well being.
