Greater competitiveness is emphasized in this group. These swimmers possess a knowledge of swim meets, all strokes, racing, turns and dives. They focus on technique, speed, endurance and strength in their training. The sets in this group become more challenging for goal accomplishment and achieving time standards. Beginning at age 13, dryland (strength training on land) is an integrated training option. Swim meet expectations increase and attendance at three practices a week are required. Swimmers in this group are able to swim legally 100 yards each stroke of the four strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle), 4 x 100 Free on 2:00, 2 x 200 IM on4:00, 8 x 50 kick on1:15, breathe every 3 strokes on Freestyle, are working towards Y Regional times, must have PNS silver times in two or more events, consistent turns on all strokes, independently use the pace clock and follow intervals for swim sets.
