This 8-session course teaches kids water safety and basic swimming skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and builds confidence in and around water. Kids will perform exercises to help them adjust to being in the water. They will learn water safety fundamentals such as "Jump, Push, Turn, Grab" and "Swim, Float, Swim" which can be used if they find themselves unexpectedly in the water. Specific safety topics will be talked about like what to do if you see someone in the water who needs help. For school age children who have never had swim lessons without a parent or guardian, or are afraid of the water. Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and a foundation that allows for a student's future progress in swimming. By session end, children will be able to swim, float, and swim assisted for 5 feet; and submerge their head under water.
