This 8-session course teaches kids water safety and basic swimming skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and builds confidence in and around water. Kids will perform exercises to help them adjust to being in the water. They will learn water safety fundamentals such as "Jump, Push, Turn, Grab" and "Swim, Float, Swim" which can be used if they find themselves unexpectedly in the water. Specific safety topics will be talked about like what to do if you see someone in the water who needs help. For Preschool age children who are comfortable in the water and able to swim and float assisted for 5 feet. In stage 2 students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.
