AOA Seattle Japanese Garden Visit

Open to the public since June 1960, Seattle Japanese Garden is one of the most highly regarded Japanese-style gardens in North America. With 3.5-acres featuring a winding path around a central pond, this stroll garden invites visitors to journey through the varied landscapes of Japan ? mountains, forests, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, islands and the sea. We are visiting on a Free First Thursday that features performances of traditional Japanese Butoh dances throughout the garden. You will gain a better understanding of Japanese culture through the art of the garden and the dance. Butoh dance is abstract and expressive, implicitly related to the atomic bomb and thematically often centers around destruction and creation, apocalypse and rebirth with performers typically covered in white paint moving slowly and controlled. While admission is free, part of the program fee includes a $5/person donation to Seattle Japanese Garden.Wear clothes appropriate for the weather. Bring money for dinner. Trip goes rain or shine. No refunds for cancellations after 7/30.For schedule details, please click the "Register Now" button. For more information, visit:
