Black History Month: Afro-Cuban Dance

We are proud to welcome Mark Lilly back to MMEM for the month of February for an Afro Cuban residency. This is a great opportunity to learn the history of Afro-Cuban culture as we celebrate Black History Month.
Join us as we explore the traditions of the Yoruba people of Nigeria with instructor Mark Lilly. In this class you'll learn the traditional Orisha dance movements. These dances came to the Americas during slave trade (Maafa) and are taught in the Afro- Cuban technique.
