YMCA's BOLD & GOLD is teaming up with The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation to offer families a unique adventure this fall called Historic Outdoors!
Spend the weekend camping at Monte Cristo in the North Cascades
Monte Cristo is a mining ghost town northwest of Monte Cristo Peak off of the mountain loop highway. The town was active as a mining area for gold and silver from 1889 to 1907, and later became a resort town that operated until 1983.
It is 4 miles each way with a steady gain, totaling 700 feet. We will set up camp, and explore this historic area.
We will meet in the morning at Seattle at the Cascade People's Center , make sure everyone has the proper camping gear and clothing and then travel by bus to the North Cascades.
