In-Person Kids Enrichment & Sports Classes

At the Y, every kid can cultivate the skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and lifelong success, and have fun doing it. Our in-person enrichment and sports programs provide these opportunities and are also a great way to make new friends! Whether basketball or badminton, climbing or cooking, we are excited to once again offer a variety of in-person activities for kids of all ages, skill levels, and interests.

Registration opens on the 15th of the month for programs that start the following month! Options may vary by location. Please read the frequently asked questions below for more information. These programs are open to both Y members and community members.

Kids Create

Ages: 3 to 9

This art series gives kids the opportunity to express their creativity through various mediums. Drawing, painting, and craft projects encourage imaginations to flourish and inspire self-confidence and individuality. A different theme and activity is featured every week.

Ages: 8 to 13

Your tween will be prepared to make meals for the whole family after taking Future Chefs! Culinary skills such as dicing, sautéing, kneading, and baking are integrated into this challenging and fun cooking series. Learn important nutrition facts and how to build a well-rounded meal with new recipes each week.

Rock Climbing

Ages: 5 to 8

Learn about safety, equipment, technique, and commands, plus knot tying in this kids introductory class to rock climbing. Led by our rock star staff, kids will be challenged and build confidence while having a blast as they climb to new heights!

Tae Kwon Do

Ages: 5 to 13

Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art that uses bare feet and hands. Students learn punches, blocks and self-defense techniques, but kicks are the Tae Kwon Do trademark. Each class is a fun and exciting way to build confidence, strength, and discipline through the teachings of this ancient practice.

Sports Sampler

Ages: 3 to 8

Sports Sampler is the perfect introduction to team sports! Featuring a new sport each week, kids learn basic skills and components through a variety of fun drills and games while focusing on building teamwork, body control, and hand-eye coordination.

Basketball Skills Academy

Ages: 5 to 15

Get in the game! In our Basketball Skills Academy, kids learn the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, passing, offense, and defense through fun games and drills. Led by Y staff, curriculum is centered on building skills, respect, teamwork, and helping kids feel confident on the court.

Soccer Skills Academy

Ages: 5 to 9

Get ready to score! In this outdoor Soccer Skills Academy, players fine-tune their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills, while having fun. Led by Y staff and volunteers, curriculum is centered on building healthy habits, sportsmanship, teamwork, and helping kids feel confident on the field.

Sports Conditioning Academy

Ages: 8 to 12

Improve athletic skills and endurance through our Sports Conditioning Academy. Boost speed, agility, and quickness using ladders, hurdles, chutes, and more. Y staff lead curriculum with a focus on building healthy habits, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the class sizes?   
  • Ages 3-5: No more than 8 participants per class  

  • Ages 5-13: No more than 12 participants per class  

Can a supervising adult watch their child during class?

In some instances, yes. To ensure physical distancing, the following guidelines apply:

  • For youth ages 3-5 years in Sports Sampler classes, we encourage one supervising adult to remain onsite
  • For classes held in the gym (typically sports classes), one supervising adult may remain onsite
  • For all other enrichment and recreation programs, due to smaller room capacities, we are not able to accommodate additional adults
Does the supervising adult have to remain onsite during class?

Yes, all supervising adults are required to remain on the property in case of emergency.

  • Property includes:
    • inside the facility (lounge areas are not currently open due to COVID restrictions)
    • outside in the parking lot
  • Please ensure we have your current contact information on file in case we need to contact you during class

We encourage members to take advantage of this time to enjoy a worry-free workout!

Does my child need to wear a mask?  
  • Children ages 5+ years are required to wear a mask at all times while participating in a class or program
  • We strongly encourage children ages 3-4 years to wear a mask as well
What does my child need to bring?  

Please be sure your child brings a water bottle. Water fountains are currently “bottle fill only”.

Does my child need to be potty trained?   

Yes, all participants must be potty trained.  

How are we keeping kids safe?  
  • Staff are trained to follow all safety protocols and cleaning procedures
  • Touchpoints will be thoroughly sanitized before and after each class
  • Staff are required to wear a mask at all times
Are staff required to be vaccinated for COVID-19?   

We are encouraging Y staff to get vaccinated, however it is not currently mandated.
