Program Overview

Coaching

Young Adult Services is in search of professionals from the community to become career coaches for young adults striving to gain independence and stability. The program is focused on improving the employment outcomes (both short and long -term) of homeless and at-risk youth. We need volunteer coaches to meet with young adults (ages 16+) one-on-one or in a group setting to share information about their professions, provide support in helping young adults progress and achieve their employment-related goals.

Internships

Youth participants in career coaching are aided in attaining internships within career fields of their interest. Coaches work with to help participants apply to and be successful in internship positions. Volunteer positions offered by coaches can be utilized as internships in certain circumstances. Please contact the program coordinator for details.

Job Readiness Training

Coaches and participants are invited to job readiness trainings every other Tuesday, where YMCA staff will provide workshops in resume and cover letter writing, job searching and interviewing.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A CAREER COACH

Coaches must be 21+ and willing and ready to advise, guide and share their experiences.

Time commitment: 2-8 hours per month over a 3-6 month time period. One-time opportunities are also available through Clear Path to Employment.
