Membership Brochure
Everyone is Welcome
The YMCA is a membership organization open to all people. The YMCA welcomes women and men, girls and boys of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation, abilities and financial circumstances. Programs and branches embrace diversity, reflecting the needs and composition of the communities they serve.
Want to gain energy, reduce stress, improve your general fitness level or lose weight? The YMCA offers a great place to increase health, have fun and meet new friends. We provide a variety of programs for every body and every level of fitness. For more than 130 years, the YMCA has helped members improve their health and well-being while building a stronger sense of community. You can belong today!
The best way to get started is to come in for a visit...
Our Member Services Desk is located just inside the front door at the West Seattle Family YMCA. Feel free to use our parking lots in front or behind the building, or the back-in angle parking around the building.
Interested in finding out more?
A trained YMCA staff member or volunteer will be happy to answer your questions regarding membership and the types of programs and offerings that would best help you reach your goals. When you come in, ask for a Welcome Visit at the Member Services Desk. Membership fees are in our brochure above.
Payment
You can choose to pay for your annual membership in a lump sum, or spread it out throughout the year through our monthly Bank Draft system. In order to set up a bank draft, we will need a voided check from the account you would like us to draft. You may choose to have it drafted on the 1st or 15th of the month. When you join, you will pay the joining fee plus the first month's fee (which will vary depending upon the day you join and the date you choose for your withdrawl.) We do require photo identification in order to process your membership application.
In addition, you can choose to take some classes (swimming lessons, karate, Nurturing Pathways, etc.) as a non- or Program Member.
Program Membership
Annual Program Membership: Allows an individual or family to sign up for unlimited programs at all YMCA of Greater Seattle locations for a 12-month period, paying the program member rate for each class they take. The annual program membership fee is in addition to class fees.
Family: $50 annually
Financial assistance is available...
The West Seattle Family YMCA provides financial assistance to the extent possible to those in need. Eligibility is determined by taking your gross annual household income (i.e. income before taxes and deductions) and applying that amount to the federal poverty level guidelines. We also take into consideration how many people are supported by that income. Once submitted, your application will be reviewed and a written response will be sent to you within one week. It is imperative that your address be accurate. If a Financial Aid processor is available, you may be able to meet with them and process your application on the spot. We do not guarantee that a Financial Aid processor is available at all times. Assistance will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
Financial Assistance Form
Terminations
If your situation changes and you need to terminate your membership, you can print out the form above, fill it out and bring or mail it to the West Seattle Family YMCA, along with your membership card (and those of your family). We need a minimum of 2 weeks notice prior to your draft date in order to stop your automatic bank withdrawal. If you are moving to another part of the country, we will be happy to provide a letter indicating what joining fees you have paid here. Many YMCAs will credit those fees paid towards their joining fee.
