 Why the Y?

You can positively impact lives right in your own community with the Y. Nearly 10,000 volunteers of all ages help the Y nurture youth, improve health and well-being and assist our neighbors in need.

We value your time and enthusiasm and look forward to creating a fun, fulfilling volunteer experience for you.

Y volunteers enjoy:
  • A wide variety of locations and programs to fit personal interests
  • Options for one-time, seasonal and ongoing volunteerism
  • Making new friends, networking and gaining experience

 How Can I Help?

Youth Development
Our volunteers nurture the potential of thousands of kids year-round. They teach, mentor, guide and support kids from their first few weeks of life through their first steps into adulthood. Volunteers assist with:
  • Youth sports
  • Swim lessons
  • After-school programs
  • Leadership clubs
  • Skill-building classes
  • Special events

Healthy Living
Y volunteers provide support, resources and guidance to kids, adults and families so they can achieve greater health and well-being in spirit, mind and body. Opportunities include:
  • Personal training
  • Group exercise classes
  • Teaching or assisting in classes
  • Meeting one-on-one with members
  • Leading workshops
  • Supporting community events like Healthy Kids Day
  • Welcoming and serving Y members and participants

Social Responsibility

Volunteers help the Y listen and respond to our region’s most critical social needs.  They help inspire compassion and involvement in our community by:

  • Serving as board members at their local Ys
  • Fundraising in the Y’s Partners With Youth annual campaign
  • Encouraging volunteerism from individuals and group
  • Helping to coordinate volunteerism activities

 Getting Started
