Family Camps

Are you longing for some quality family time with fun, healthy activities to please all ages? Camp Orkila offers year-round family camp experiences in the inspiring natural beauty of Orcas Island Days are filled with activities such as arts and crafts, boating, marine science, climbing tower with zipline and giant swing. A sunset campfire or other all-camp event completes each day.

2017 Orkila Family Camp Weekends:
  • Mother's Day - May 12-14
  • Memorial Day - May 26-29
  • Spring into Summer - June 23-26
  • Labor Day - September 1-4

Accommodation options:

Dederer Center: Each cabin includes four bedrooms (each housing four participants in bunk beds) two bathrooms, a cozy lounge, and a kitchen. Full linen service is provided. While all meals are provided during the weekend, there is also a kitchen in each Dederer cabin equipped with dishes, utensils and cookware.

Main Camp: Rustic, open-air cabins located on the beach or nestled among the evergreen trees house 12 participants each (multiple families). Bathroom facilities with showers are a short walk away. Participants provide sleeping bags and linens for bunk beds. Most cabins do not have electricity.

Day Use: Come join us for the day - meals and activities are included, lodging is not.

Women's Wellness Weekends

Tucked away on beautiful Orcas Island in Washington's San Juan Islands, YMCA Camp Orkila provides the ideal setting for a weekend getaway. Come enjoy the spectacular view of Presidents Channel and over 280 acres of beach and forest. Orkila is the perfect place to relax and play. Enjoy various creative crafts such as pottery and jewelry making, the zipline and the giant swing. Strengthen your body with activities such as yoga, kayaking and hiking. Replenish your spirit with a massage or a walk on the beach.  Reconnect with friends and make new ones while nurturing your sprit, mind and body.

 

2017 Retreats:

  • Spring: March 31-April 2
  • Fall: October 20-23 or October 20-24 (stay until Monday)

 

Accommodation options:

Main Camp: Our Wally Fisher Lodge the lodge has four large, adjoining bedrooms (each housing 14 women in bunk beds) and is attached to a shared bathroom and common area. Participants provide sleeping bags and linens. The lodge is heated and has electricity.

Day Use: Come join us for the day - meals and activities are included, lodging is not.

Quilt & Craft Retreat

Do you enjoy quilting, crafting and making new friends?  With more than 280 acres of beaches and forests, Camp Orkila is the perfect place to relax and catch up on your favorite quilt or craft project!  Share ideas and tips with other like-minded women and indulge your creative side while enjoying the beauty of the San Juan Islands.

African American Males Weekend

Join us for a weekend full of your favorite camp skills and activities such as archery, boating, arts & crafts and the zipline! Be a part of discussion groups with topics such as rites of passage, leadership, community and life skills unique to the African American Male Experience.

Hosted at beautiful YMCA Camp Orkila on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands, this weekend offers a chance to play and relax with more than 280 acres of beach, forest and fields. Rustic cabin accommodations and all meals are included.

Cost for the weekend:
$132/adult and $111/youth (6+ if accompanied by a parent/guardian; 10+ if unaccompanied)

Financial assistance is available through an application process

Transportation will be available from Matt Griffin YMCA in SeaTac and Mt. Zion Baptist in Seattle.
