​YMCA YOUTH CONFERENCE ON NATIONAL AFFAIRS

This program offers unusual opportunities for a young person to do research in the area of National and International concern; to organize this information into a documented proposal; to engage in intensive discussion and to debate these proposals with understanding young people from other states.

Young people who have participated in the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs are unanimous in their belief that this experience makes a vital contribution in helping young citizens to learn more about the democratic form of Government.

 Who Can Participate

 

​PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS 

Members of the Washington Delegation must: 

  • Be a current participant in the Mock Trial or Youth Legislature program

  • Be enrolled in grades 10-12 or equivalent

  • Submit a Washington State CONA Application Form

  • Draft a proposal of national or international concern

REPRESENT WASHINGTON

Join this year's delegation to the Conference on National Affairs. Applications are due to the Youth & Government office no later than November 17, 2011. Applicant interviews will be held in Seattle on December 10, 2011. If an applicant is unable to attend an interview on this date he or she should consult with Youth & Government staff no later than the application deadline in order to make alternate arrangements. 

The cost of participation for Washington delegates is $1300. We encourage delegates to take advantage of financial assistance and fundraising support.
