YMCA YOUTH CONFERENCE ON NATIONAL AFFAIRS
This program offers unusual opportunities for a young person to do research in the area of National and International concern; to organize this information into a documented proposal; to engage in intensive discussion and to debate these proposals with understanding young people from other states.
Young people who have participated in the YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs are unanimous in their belief that this experience makes a vital contribution in helping young citizens to learn more about the democratic form of Government.
Members of the Washington Delegation must:
Be a current participant in the Mock Trial or Youth Legislature program
Be enrolled in grades 10-12 or equivalent
Submit a Washington State CONA Application Form
Draft a proposal of national or international concern

Join this year's delegation to the Conference on National Affairs!
Before you begin your application, take a minute to fill out the Candidate Questionnaire and the CONA proposal in advance, as you will be asked to paste your responses in on the application.
Applications are due to the Youth & Government office no later than November 15, 2012. Applicant interviews will be held in Seattle on December 8, 2012. If an applicant is unable to attend an interview on this date he or she should consult with Youth & Government staff no later than the application deadline in order to make alternate arrangements.
The cost of participation for Washington delegates is $1300. We encourage delegates to take advantage of financial assistance and fundraising support.

YMCA NATIONAL JUDICIAL COMPETITION
July 31-August 3, 2013 CHICAGO, IL
The National Judicial Competition (NJC) brings together Youth & Government participants from around the country to face off in mock trial and appellate competitions. Be part of Washington's delegation!
TEAMS
PARTICIPATION
All participants must be currently enrolled in grades 9-12 or equivalent and be a current participant in the Youth Legislature or Mock Trial program in Washington State.
Individual participation. Individual students may participate with their peers from around the state as part of the Washington State delegation. Students will be selected through an online application process.
Team participation. Youth Legislature delegations and Mock Trial teams may register an unlimited number of students to participate in either the appellate or mock trial competitions. When registering as a group, teams must maintain an adult:student ratio of 1:10.

Individual participation fee is $1350 fee includes airfare, conference fee and lodging irst payment of $500 is due on April 26
