 Annual Support Campaign

ANNUAL SUPPORT CAMPAIGN

Volunteers are essential to all aspects of our Y camps. Contributing as a volunteer offers engagement with camp throughout the year. And, you help move our mission forward. We hope you see an opportunity that fits your interests. If you have a specific skill or service to share, or are looking for different project possibilities, please contact Magill Dickerson-Lange at 206.839.8916 or mlange@seattleymca.org.

Financial assistance funding and our subsidized leadership programs rely on the money raised during our Annual Support Campaign.  Each winter, 200 volunteers give their time to support youth in our community by raising these essential funds.  Join the team!

Roles include:

  • Caller! Participate in our fundraising Call Nights

  • Campaigner! Ask your friends & networks to support camp (fundraising goal $1,000)

  • On-line Story Teller! Share camp's mission with friends through a story page on-line (fundraising goal $400)

  • Host!  Host a giving dinner, wine tasting or Bunco/card tournament

  • Help prepare mailings & write "thank you" notes

Year-Round Leadership ProgramThe YRL Program focuses on keeping camp's up-and-coming leaders connected with each other and spreading camp values into our communities. YRLs meet weekly over the course of the year and participate in events ranging from service opportunities and outdoor adventures to camper reunions. Participants will work together to keep camp magic alive all throughout the year in anticipation for the next summer season. For more information on the program, visit the YRL Blog or email Alyssa Flaherty at aflaherty@seattleymca.org.

Summer Internships: Camp Orkila offers 4-week summer internships for rising high school seniors. This volunteer position is ideal for teens who aspire to become summer staff in the future. Interns live in cabins with counselors and campers and help in all aspects of the camp program.  For more information on the Intern Program, visit the Orkila Summer Interns Site.

Camp Nurse for a week: Volunteers staff our summer health huts.  The position requires an RN and a one-week commitment.  Enjoy the beauty and activity of camp while supporting the medical and first aid needs of campers.

Contact Beth Wangen at bwangen@seattleymca.org.

Check-In & Bus Supervisors: The counselors eagerly await the campers' arrival at Camp Orkila, and a mix of summer staff and parent volunteers supervise the kids en-route.  Spend four Saturdays traveling to and from Orkila on the buses, help build connections between arriving campers, and listen to camp stories on the return trip.  Saturday morning volunteers who cannot commit the full day help parents and campers with the check-in process.
