ANNUAL SUPPORT CAMPAIGN
Volunteers are essential to all aspects of our Y camps. Contributing as a volunteer offers engagement with camp throughout the year. And, you help move our mission forward. We hope you see an opportunity that fits your interests. The members of the YRL Program will work together to keep camp magic alive all throughout the year in anticipation for the next summer season. Registration for the 2013-2014 YRL Program will take place at the end of 2013. For more information on the program, visit the YRL Blog or email Tessa Nesbit.
Summer Internships: Camp Orkila offers 4-week summer internships for rising high school seniors. This volunteer position is ideal for teens who want to become summer staff. Interns live in cabins with counselors and campers and help in all aspects of the camp program. Applications will be available in November and due at the end of December. Camp Nurse for a week: Volunteers staff our summer health huts. The position requires an RN and a one-week commitment. Enjoy the beauty and activity of camp while supporting the medical and first aid needs of campers.
Check-In & Bus Supervisors: The counselors eagerly await the campers' arrival at Camp Orkila, and a mix of summer staff and parent volunteers supervise the kids en-route. Spend four Saturdays traveling to and from Orkila on the buses, help build connections between arriving campers, and listen to camp stories on the return trip. Saturday morning volunteers who cannot commit the full day help parents and campers with the check-in process.
