Give to a Fund

Currently the YMCA of Greater Seattle maintains six funds for the various components of its global efforts. You can specify a specific fund, or make a donation to the Global Excellence Fund that supports all of these efforts. All contributions are administered by theYMCA of Greater Seattle, a 501(c)(3)not-for-profit corporation chartered in the state of Washington. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and are acknowledged in writing.

 Global Teens

This fund provides financial assistance to participants in Global Teen programs. Consistent with our vision, youth delegates to other countries represent the diversity of our community, both in terms of ethnicity and income level. This fund allows lower income youth to participate in these trips.

 YMicro.org

Ymicro.org is the Y’s web based platform that uses micro-philanthropy to support microfinance through the Global YMCA Movement. The Seattle YMCA has taken the lead with other Ys in North America and Ys in developed economies in the creating of the site.

When fully implemented Ymicro.org will be self-supporting through Support Ys fees and funds management, but during the development phase (2011-2013) Ymicro.org welcomes contributions to the overall effort to launch, improve and grow this effort.

 World Service

This fund supports life-changing YMCA programs and services in some of the most disadvantaged communities around the globe as well as movement strengthening efforts to improve the sustainability of these Ys. Some funds are used to support projects approved by the YMCA of the USA International Group. Others are allocated for work the Seattle YMCA is doing directly with its partners.

 Japan Disaster Relief

The YMCA of Greater Seattle has worked closely with Ys in Japan for over 50 years and is assisting the Japan YMCA to respond to survivors of the Japan Tsunami and earthquake disaster in impacted communities.

Initially displaced families sought refuge at the Sendai, Tochigi and Morioka YMCAs. YMCAs in Japan are now coordinating volunteers to help survivors and communities recover. We are committed to responding to ongoing needs. In addition to donations, we are seeking volunteers to travel to Japan and provide volunteer assistance at these YMCAs. Check out our recent video report, and then donate or volunteer with the Y.

 Jerusalem International YMCA

For decades, financial support from the U.S. and the international community has played an invaluable role in the success of JIY efforts of to develop ambassadors for peace. Funds support 1) the Arab-Jewish Peace Kindergarten, where children at the youngest age learn to interact with those who speak a different language, wear different clothes and celebrate different holidays; 2) the teen and young adult coexistence programs where dialogue begins to bridge the differences of who they are; and 3) summer Day Camp, a successful example of interaction between youngsters from all religions and cultures. Programs such as these are critical to sustaining the momentum that already has impacted generations of participants and visitors to the Jerusalem International YMCA.
