What makes the Y unique?
The Y is a values-based, character-building, nonprofit membership organization that plays a vital role in contributing to the community. Our values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, faith and fun are in everything we do. We plan our high-quality programs around essential elements to help kids grow up caring and responsible. Our staff is caring, competent and experienced. Our training includes safety, management modules, CPR, First Aid and more.

At the Y, young people can develop new skills, increase self-esteem, and make new friends while having fun in safe, nurturing environments. Families can build stronger bonds by engaging in activities together. Seniors can socialize and improve their health, while adults can find release from their busy lives. People of all ages and abilities can build a healthier spirit, mind and body while becoming more engaged in their communities.

How can I join the Y?
You can join online or at any YMCA of Greater Seattle
location. There are a variety of membership options you can choose from. If you would like to become a member of your neighborhood Y, you can also complete our Membership Application in advance and bring it with you when you visit. Please also bring a photo ID. We'll talk with you about membership types that will best fit your needs as well as your health and wellness goals. You can make your initial payment, we'll issue you a membership card and you can start using thefacility and joining programs that day!

How does payment work?
Membership includes a one-time joining fee and monthly dues. Your first month's dues will be pro-rated at the time that you join. Most members pay dues through a monthly bank or credit card draft that we set up. You can also pay for your membership on an annual basis.

What is the difference between a Facility Membership and a Program Membership?
With a Facility Membership, you have full access to the Y facility that you join. This includes fitness centers, group exercise classes, lap and recreational swimming, and some branches offer Kids Corner/Adventure Zone. You also receive a free total health orientation and priority registration for programs. As a facility member, you can participate in most programs at no additional cost. To participate in programs with fees, facility members can take advantage of reduced fees.

A Program Membership is for those who want to enroll in a particular class or program, such as swim lessons, youth sports, or child care, and do not wish to have full access to the Y facility. General usage of the Y facility is not included. An annual fee is required for a Program Membership. Additional fees apply per class or program.

Does the Y offer financial assistance for membership and programs?
YMCA membership and programs are open to everyone. Financial assistance is made available to those who cannot afford the services the YMCA provides. All YMCA members receive the same membership benefits, regardless of whether or not they are receiving financial assistance and your application is processed confidentially. Please speak to a Membership Representative at your local Y for more information or visit our Financial Assistance page.

Can I access all YMCA of Greater Seattle locations when I join one?
Yes, your membership privileges will extend to all 12 YMCA of Greater Seattle locations. Your membership card also may be honored at more than 2,500 Ys across the country if they participate in the AWAY (Always Welcome at the YMCA) program. Some restrictions apply. Please check the Y you are planning to visit in advance.

What is included with membership?
As a Facility Member, you can use all the facilities and participate in many of the programs offered - as often as you want! There may, however, be additional fees for instructional programs, such as swimming lessons martial arts or cooking classes. Please see your Y's programs page for more information.

Once I become a member, is online registration available for programs and classes?

Can I bring a guest with me?
