Dive Into Summer Swimming at Yost Pool

Through a unique partnership between the Dale Turner Family YMCA and the City of Edmonds, summer swim lessons, pool parties and more are available at Yost Pool all summer long through the Y! Yost Pool features lockers, showers, hot tub, lap lanes, diving area with diving board, meeting rooms and more.
 
Dale Turner Family YMCA Aquatics Staff manage the pool offering trusted expertise in swim instruction, lifeguarding and pool management.
 

Yost Pool is located at 9535 Bowdoin Way in Edmonds tucked away in a beautiful, secluded setting within Yost Park. If you're a resident of Edmonds or a Dale Turner Family YMCA member, you'll receive a discount on fees!

  GROUP SWIM LESSONS  

Preschool group swim lessons offer children their first experience in the pool without parental assistance. Children are taught the basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming while learning about pool safety, boating safety and the use of personal flotation devices. A caring, certified swim instructor teaches the 30-minute class. Class participants are divided into skill levels in small class sizes to ensure the instructor can provide children with individual attention.

 

 

Pike (Ages 3-5)

This class is designed for the preschool beginner who has had no real experience in the water. Children participate without parents and work on floating on front and back, kicking on front and back, bubbles, putting face in the water, basic paddle stroke, pool safety, boating safety, and water adjustment. Patient instructors work to create a positive experience for these little swimmers. There are no prerequisites for enrollment, other than age. Purchase/Browse all options​

Eel (Ages 3-5)

For the advanced beginner who can already swim 3-5 feet on their own and can put their entire face in the water without fear. Participants will work on developing front, back, and side paddle as well as building confidence. Purchase/Browse all options​

Ray (Ages 3-5)

Ray is for the intermediate preschooler who can already swim 15 feet unassisted using a paddle stroke on their front, side, and back. Participants work on rotary breathing, backstroke development with proper technique, and elementary backstroke. There is also continued work on treading water, deep water swimming, basic diving, floating, endurance, and pool safety. Purchase/Browse all options​

Polliwog (Ages 6-12)

Designed for the school-age beginner who has little or no experience. Emphasis is placed on water adjustment, kicking on front and back, basic paddle stroke, floating on front and back, basic backstroke, and pool safety. There are no prerequisites for enrollment other than age requirement. Pu​rchase/Browse all options​

Guppy (Ages 6-12)

This level is for school-age advanced beginner that can swim 15 feet on their own but need to work on their freestyle technique. Rotary breathing will be introduced, as well as a more advanced technique for backstroke and elementary backstroke. Participants will work on floating on front and back, treading water, deep water swimming, pool safety and introduction to boating safety. Purchase/Browse all options​

Minnow (Ages 6-12)

For children who can already swim 1 length of the lap pool (25 yards) with consistent freestyle, backstroke, and a beginning form of sidestroke or breaststroke. Proper rotary breathing technique will be taught and participants will be introduced to dolphin kick in addition to refining all the strokes. Participants should have completed Guppy or be able to complete the above skills before being placed in Minnow. Purchase/Browse all options​

Fish (Ages 6-12)

For children who can already swim 1 length of the lap pool (25 yards) with freestyle, backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke. Proper rotary breathing technique will be stressed, and participants will be introduced to butterfly in addition to refining all the strokes. Children should complete Minnow level or have a swim test to confirm proper class placement. Purchase/Browse all options​

Flying Fish (Ages 6-12)​

Flying Fish is for children who can already swim 100 yards of freestyle and 50 yards of backstroke and breaststroke. Flying Fish is designed as a swim team preparatory class. Students will focus on technique and endurance for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Continued work on elementary backstroke, pool safety, treading water, deep water swimming, and diving. Purchase/Browse all options​

 PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS ​

Y private swim lessons offer the opportunity to learn in a one-on-one setting. Each student is paired with a certified, caring instructor based on needs and abilities. Instructors use positive reinforcement and a fun learning environment to help every student feel successful in a water environment.
